The 'new' 3D doesn't distort the colors at all. The glasses are completely clear.
And after seeing Beowulf...and a couple of it's previews for upcoming 3D films, I have to say that I'm looking forward to seeing more in 3D. If this tech had a moment in time to put itself back in the mainstream...it's now.
When we install these systems, we color correct for the glasses. Whether it's polarized glasses (RealD) or notch filter glasses (Dolby), color correction is used. @bull3964 Most likely the left eye/right eye was not set correctly. A tech could fix this quickly.

Kill the glasses, and it might be worth a try. The glasses distort the colors. I would rather have a clear colorful picture than a 3d one.
