This is going to be a hard decision to make. I've been using the Nyko Blu Wave remote dongle with my Harmony for a while now. At under $20 it was a fair solution. $55 is a bit steep to add the rest of the controls...

Look, let's be honest here: The Nyko adapter is a stop-gap. It's a good one, but it's a stop-gap all the same. It responds slowly and it does not have all of the functions the BT remote from Sony has.

And I own the Nyko. I'm not slamming it at all. It does do things that I like.

But the reality is: The PS3, for full functionality, needs a BT-based solution (at least until Sony realizes that built-in IR is not a last-gen technology). For those of us who have spent $250 on our Harmony 880 remotes, this is the answer to properly integrating the PS3 into the activities, etc.

For many folks the Nyko solution will work just fine.

Please add an IR sensor on the Playstation 3 console so your customers are not subjected to duct tape fixes from 3rd party vendors just trying to make a quick buck! You did it on your previous Playstation 2 revisions. How long until you add one to the PS3?

How do you suppose we make a profit on this console? Had we included an IR receiver for a whole 2 cents additional cost, we wouldn't be able to gouge.. er, I mean offer a BT remote to customers for the low and fair price of $25. No one's buying games, no one wants to buy extra controllers, so what else do you propose we do? You should be thrilled that we don't charge our 8 customers anything for online play (yet). Try getting that kind of value from XBL.

You complain too much. Get a second job.

What's wrong with our Blue Tooth Blu-Ray remote? Sure we put the stop button between the play and pause buttons, but we're Sony, so there is no way that particular element of industrial design will ever be called into question.

Manufactures need to come together and agree on one set standard for wirelessly controlling CE products to replace IR.
