AFAIK any capture cards using HDMI would not be HDCP compliant which means you would not get a signal from your cable box - otherwise, you'd see these being scarfed up like crazy by SageTV, GB-PVR & BeyondTV users left & right.
One other question: Does the 2nd to last sentence mean that you need Vista to use the HD-PVR? I'm still clinging to XP at this point...

Why not just use Blackmagic's solution and use HDMI input to take the digital uncompressed video stream?
