HD VOD sweeping over Verizon's FiOS TV territories
Shortly after hearing that Verizon was doing its part to beef up video-on-demand offerings, we've been receiving reports from FiOS TV customers across the country that HD VOD has arrived unannounced. From New England to DC to the beautiful Pacific Coast, HD VOD seems to be sweeping across nearly every FiOS TV area. Early reports are stating that quality looks "just as good as broadcast [HD programming]," but we're out to see if it really is everyone that's invited to the party. Got FiOS TV? Yeah? Well, do you suddenly have HD VOD? Chime in with your locale below.

FIOS sounds great... but availability is terrible. I even live in a city that "Fios Ready" except for, apparently, our block.
Cmon Verizon!
I've had FiOS for over a year. Still no FiOS TV. I get to love with Comcast's High[ly Compressed] Definition. *sigh*
Just as good as broadcast isn't terribly impressive. Watch Planet Earth on OTA and on BluRay, it's a world of difference.
just a question but, how do u get planet earth from OTA??
Discovery HD ran it A LOT. I don't know if they are running it anymore, but it ran several times over 2-3 months.
OTA means over-the-air(waves). FYI -- OTA broadcasts are always up to a maximum of 1440x1080, rather than 1920x1080. The 6 MHz band per channel doesn't allow for the full resolution. anyway it is true, the bluray should look better than OTA, although it's not possible in this particular case since you can't get Discovery with rabbit ears..
That said, OTA beats anything out there on cable or satellite, even though the latter both have the ability to provide full resolution (and even though it most cases they do run 1920x1080). Just so the providers can claim that THEY have the most HD channels!! Yeah, crap in high definition doesn't change the fact that it's crap!
So, is FIOS TV just more HD-Lite? It really is aggravating that I spent 5500 on a 70" TV only to get HD-Lite through Dish.
live in dallas and my fios on demand just updated with HD content.
I live in South NJ and HD VOD popped up sometime overnight. It wasn't there before.
I am in Pittsburgh, I have had HD VOD for a while.. I would say 1 or 2 months at least.. The only problem is it only has CBS, NBC, GOLFTV, WEALTHTV.. There is still no HBO VOD..
By the way.. I could care less about VOD, I want more HD Channels.. I am waiting, but getting annoyed that I may not be able to watch the Pens in HD for the playoffs.. I gave up Comcast (gladly), but they had VS HD, and FSN HD..
Just north of Philadelphia and no HD VOD here... :(
Pacific coast yes...if you live in CA. HD VOD is a no show for Oregon. (Washington State doesn't have FiOS TV till the end of the year rumor has it.)
