LOL, Stevey 1337, I came here to post the same thing after reading the article via RSS. Here's my note from Albany, NY area TWC service after I got my Tivo HD with Multi-cable card service and suddenly couldn't get Food Network HD or Discovery HD, my favorite HD channels, only recently added:
"Thank you for contacting Time Warner.
The channels you are not receiving in addition to the on demand stations require two-way communication. These stations are referred to as Switched Digital Video (SDV).
Currently there are no devices on the market that are 2-way capable. As this is the case, the cable cards available today are 1-way communication devices.
It is anticipated that later this year 2-way capable devices will be hitting the market. Panasonic announced earlier this year it will be introducing a digital tuner that will have this capability. As these products become available in the market we will be able to supply 2-way communication cable cards to use with these devices. "
“An engineer explained to us that hundreds of ear impressions were gathered in the name of research, and while each one obviously boasted its own unique shape and size, one single characteristic remained uniform across the board: the entrance into the ear canal is not a perfect circle, it's an oval.”
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
