Draper introduces new FlatScreen Lift to conceal your HDTV
For those still not keen on hanging their flat-panel on the wall, Draper has crafted an all new motorized lift in order to reveal and conceal your HDTV at the press of a button. Designed to handle plasmas / LCDs up to 50-inches and add less than 5-inches to the overall depth, the FSL-F-50 FlatScreen Lift can be built into custom cabinetry and even includes "a unique secondary shelf beneath the display itself, allowing you to attach a matching trim piece to fill the opening left by the open cabinet lid." The unit can reportedly hoist up to 210-pounds and takes just over half a minute to fully deploy with zero weight. Oh, and if this particular model doesn't jive with your current TV, the firm is expected to add two additional sizes in the near future to accommodate smaller displays and units spanning up to 65-inches diagonally.

That's pretty sweet. It would be a great thief deterrent, as dumb a$$ criminals won't be able to find your nicely hidden LCD/Plasma. LOL!
According to their website it is $3325.00
For that money you could pay a small Indonesian man to carry your tv into your room as needed.
I've seen these before, and thought about getting a cabinet with a motorized lift to hide the LCD...but with MY luck, the damn motor would die with the TV half way up!
Never really understood these things. You spend $5,000 on a great new TV, then another $3,500 so you can hide it? Even the wives who want to do it for looks, it'll look pretty dumb to have some cabinet with electronics in it be the "focus" of your room.
I imagine this is just one of those "because we can" or "show off" items.
I built one of these last year for my Aquos for a grand total of $350 (their profit margin must be ridiculous!!). Rather than a cabinet mine hides in a large antique steamer trunk, it's controlled by my Harmony 880 as well. It's handy to hide your TV when you're away on vacation or have kids with messy hands pawing at the screen.
Robber 1: Do you see a TV?
Robber 2: Nope.
Robber 1: Lets get out of here.
Robber 1: Do you see all those high end components on that shelf.
Robber 2: Yep.
Robber 1: Let's take those instead.
