Halo 3's record of $300 million in sales its first week,
Grand Theft Auto IV could set a record for the biggest debut ever for an entertainment product when it launches April 29, according to
Variety. The fact that this time around Liberty City will be rendered in (
as far as we know) 720p, makes it perfect for HDTV owners to sit down and have some quality time with. Whether your console gets its high definition movies
downloaded or on
disc, like some of us, many of you will be trading in the flicks for a ride with Niko Bellic -- but does that make it more anticipated than many of this year's upcoming blockbusters? This will be 2008's biggest game. Even if you hate GTA and want it to fail, there is no possible way that this will stay out of the news after it launches. I'd buy quite a few shares of Rockstar right about now....
I remember when I first bought my X360 back in January 2006 and said I can't wait for a GTA to come out for it, now it's a mere 13 days away.
I am sure it will. This game is the best of all games ever!

I had tons of fun playing previous GTAs I, II, Liberty City (never owned III), probably won’t buy this one though. Frankly I’m getting kinda tired of the genre.

Here's to hoping Xbox and Playstation fanboys can enjoy the game together instead of arguing which one is better. I'm going to thoroughly enjoy it on my PS3, and I hope everyone else does too.

*Yawn* I grew tired of these games when they switched from the top down perspective. Something new and creative would be good. It's unfortunate it will do so well as it's hardly interesting or innovative any more. Hell even the controversy they stir up with these games has grown boring. After "Hot Coffee" the only way they could top themselves is with kiddie porn.
I'll be sleeping in on release day.
Also, at what point did "Best of the year" stat applying to a period containing only the 2 or 3 months prior, and not the calender year from January 1st to December 31st. There's alot of time to cover yet before this game could be considered some kind of victor.

There is just no way this game will top Halo 3 sales. Certainly not for xbox 360 owners. Possibly if you combine the sales with the PS3 and 360.
I think that's what they mean, since it's just one game. Plus, with the $90 special edition, you have to sell almost half as many special edition games as you would regular edition games. And the special edition is #2 on Amazon, ahead of halo 3 and behind the regular edition.
I haven't actually gotten around to pre-ordering it yet to make sure I get a copy on the 29th, but I guess it's time to do that. I'll be playing it on the PS3 that day!

This is going to be the biggest game of the year for sure, there has been hype since it was delayed last year, now with Aust getting a sucky version, it's been in the news for months. Not long now boys and girls.

I had it pre-ordered for quite some time. I'm worried that extending the release date may cause more damage then good. I hope I'm wrong, I want to see it perform on my TV.
The game looks friggen AWESOME! It just sucks that the game is smaller in size than I had hoped. Unfortunately I guess you can only fit so much onto a Dual layer disk for the 360...they should have built it to take advantage of the PS3 Blue-Ray disk and then the 360 version could have the smaller map. Why should PS3 owners be punished with a smaller game because the 360 is such a limited platform?
Quit blurting out incorrect info. Go back to reading your www.ps3fanyboyz4life.com forums. The size of the map was not in any way held back by the size of the DL disc.

I wouldn't just give GOTY to GTAIV with games like Spore, RE5, FFXIII (possibly), little big planet, fallout 3, MGS4, and whatever nintendo has in store ofr the fall also releasing this year. This is really a huge year in gaming.
