DISH Network reaffirms that HD plans are still "on track"

If it sounds like you've heard this same 'ole song and dance before, it's because you have. Just days after the AMC-14 was officially dubbed "a total loss," and merely hours since the satcaster underwhelmed subscribers everywhere by adding CNN HD to its national HD lineup (instead of, say, SciFi HD / USA HD), the company is trying to keep spirits high. According to a regulatory filing, DISH Network reaffirmed that it would not "incur any financial liability from [the] failed satellite launch, and its plans to offer more high-definition video programs were on track." Moreover, it stated that its intentions to boost its HD lineup this spring were a go, but no further details beyond that were given. Eh, a little less conversation and a little more action would be ideal.
Eh! I'll take CNN HD over - say - Sci-Fi HD or USA HD any day. Wait...what am I saying? Charlie has almost brainwashed me with his empty promises. At this point, I'm just waiting for my subscription contract to expire and maybe heading to Direct TV. C'mon, Charlie. Give me back my faith in you, old chap.
I personally don't watch anything on Sci-Fi or USA, so I'm not too concerned when they come to dish in HD. I would like to see FX in HD, though.
i just hope they don't further compress existing channels to add new ones

Well there is a bunch of us at satelliteguys.us that have been unpaitently waiting on SciFi. Heck even Engadget posted that Dish would be adding SciFi HD months ago (based on info from SatelliteGuys). Seems Dish doesnt know it customers, as that thread has ALOT of traffic. WE WANT SCIFI HD DISH!!!!!!
I've been with dish since they became available. I have one of the older HD receivers which only gets six HD channels. They want me to either rent or buy a new receiver and pay for installation to receive more channels and an additional 2 year contract. Needless to say, I will be leaving them and going back to cable until FIOS is available. Dish has no loyalty to their long term customers.
They kind of wedged Cartoon Network in there next to CNN. I've got to wonder if that's next. I wouldn't mind getting 5 or 6 more HD channels in one punch. It would expand viewing opptions at a time when there is less new programing (spring). I'm not a big Si-Fi fan but I would check it out.

are there that many cartoons broadcast in HD? I suppose it'd be great for the adult swim (though i don't believe family guy or aqua teen are widescreen... futurama too? And a few animes arent)
What about ESPNEWS HD? DirecTV got it already...why does DISH have to wait???
