AT&T upgrading network, spreading U-verse in Illinois
Looks like Wisconsin isn't the only state getting gifted with more U-verse, as AT&T is expected to dump some $1.3 billion over the next several years to "upgrade its network in Illinois." Furthermore, it'll be bringing U-verse to even more Illinois suburbs, bringing the total communities served in the state to 230. Unfortunately, that's about it for details -- no word on which suburbs will be on the receiving end of new U-verse access, but we're sure the plans will get fleshed out before too long.

Humm, I live in Chicago where uVerse was supposed to be available in my area on February 25, 2008 and we still have nothing. Furthermore, I work for ATT and I cannot even get the scoop on when the service will be available. YUK
I'm in Kalamazoo, MI. The U-Verse guy is here right now installing everything. I'm apparently one of the first installs in the area, so glad to be getting rid of Charter.
Have they upgraded U-verse to adequate bandwidth yet? Or are they still installing obsolete equipment, such as 1 switched HD channel per household, and even that gets turned off if "too much else" is being requested.
I'm in the northern suburbs of Chicago where they are currently installing new boxes, the whole process is terrible. They add several new fiber boxes near all the telo boxes, they block the roads for days-weeks while they add the boxes and even when the system works, who would want it? Comcast is bad but after having ATT wireless for the last few years, they are the last group I want to switch to. Where is Verizon's service?
Verizon Fios amd at&t u-verse are basically the same service. They used the same equipment to bring iptv.
From what I read, Verizon's service if infinitely superior since they actually run fiber to the residence instead of just to the neighborhood. I am sure they have chokepoints in their network, but they sure are not as obvious as AT&T's. AT&T can't even supply two HD streams at the same time! The one quality poll I've seen about AT&T's HD quality is also terrible - 46% or so thought it was worse than with their last provider. Seeing how most people don't see most HD problems since they have small TVs, this large percentage of people seeing issues is awful.
BRING IT TO INDIANA!
