Best Buy unleashes Insignia NS-BRDVD Blu-ray player for $349, PS3 yawns
What's this? Best Buy finally released the Insignia NS-BRDVD blu-ray player for an affordable $349.99. The design, like other in-house Insignia-branded products, is questionable, but if you were looking into the PS3 as a player, this could be a $50 cheaper option if games aren't your thing. The unit outputs at 1080P, decodes Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD, and decodes 2-channel Dolby TrueHD. Outputs include stereo audio, composite video, component video, optical Toslink, digital coax, and HDMI. No word on image quality just yet, but based on previous Insignia products, we're not holding our breath.

I love people that bash brands that don't own them or test them. I am a product test witha fortune 500 company. I can tell you that every single brand has something or does something that others don't. I can also tell you that this Insignia has the same quality as the PS3. I have also used it on 4 different tv's. Also, when Im 40 years old I don't want a game system sitting in my living room. I much prefer a slim player as compared to a video game. Also, Bestbuy is very good about their warranty and customer service. Try dealing with Sony and you will see what I mean. At least Bestbuy is local,,,,,But this is just from an exp. tester and one man's opinion.....

Here's the thing... the price on this thing will come down - and it will go on sale... it may be good, it may not.. i haven't seen it in my store yet.

Awesome! So now when 2.0 hits I can upgrade to a 2.0 player for even more money?? Because of course everyone is aware that they are changing the hardware spec with 2.0, right? And what about after 2.0? Is there gonna be ANOTHER spec released? This is SONY we are dealing with so the safe answer is YES. Blu-Ray is a very deep hole SONY is hoping everyone will fill up with their money. Not me. So sorry.
Profile 2.0 is final spec... and they have been letting people know about it for a long time so its not like they're gonna pull a fast one and bring out 2.1 or something silly. As for commenting about how little you care about this stuff... guess what... I care less about your opinion than you do about blu ray
Affordable my ass
I saw it over the weekend at Canadian Bestbuy for $399 which is the same price as a 40GB PS3.
