Eyes-on with Sony's 0.3mm OLED

what is the point of having a pice of paper for a screen for anything whether it be a tv or anything

then again, stick that on a laptop and the MBA will look like an Osbourne

Yeah, better luck next time. Who needs an ultra-thin, beautiful color-depth/contrast display? I want the television market to stagnate, because I can't think of a use for this technology. Stop coming up with new things that I can't afford at this very moment!

I'm afraid that OLED has already missed its opportunity to compete in the flat panel market. LCD is getting so close to plasma in black level performance that plasma is already being forced out. As LCD prices continue to drop, how can OLED compete? We're still YEARS away from 50-plus inch OLED HDTVs, and they're going to cost an absolute fortune whenever they appear. Are people really going to spend 5-10 times the price to get a TV that's 1mm thick (with a gigantic control block attached to it) versus one that's 3" thick?
