Odeon cinemas to play F1 races in HD
Not everyone has an incredible home cinema, but in the UK at least that won't get in the way of a premium high definition experience while watching Lewis Hamilton tear up the F1 circuit. After a test run showing the British Grand Prix last year, Odeon Cinemas is working with Formula One Management to show ten races this season in 25 locations, live and without commercial breaks. The international HD feed and Dolby Surround 5.1 audio will be in full effect, no word on how many quid, pence or pounds this costs but at least it's one way to avoid seeing Sex & the City for the 5th time this weekend.

...Or watching Lewis Hamilton tear up both his and Kimi's cars by totally geeking out in pit lane??
Awesome! What about pricing?
£15 for adults, less for students and similar lower-paying categories :)
They have been doing this for two years now, and worst of all its not even HD Its up scaled to 720p
That's hardly surprising because at the moment Formula 1 is only being trialled in terms of being filmed in HD, so only this season there are test feeds in HD. Let's see if, with BBC having the right to broadcast in UK from next season, they'll push on to film in 1080i native. An issue could be the speed because that's why ESPN is in 720p and not 1080.
interlaced signals are no good for sports or scenes with fast moving frames. I hope BBC do F1 in 720p, It's logical they will be, I mean what better way of advertising that you won F1 back, after selling it down the river all them years ago...
