Maybe we're off here, but does Time Warner Cable love its San Antonio market, or what? For the
third time in as many
months, subscribers in the region are being gifted with a few new channels, and this time, it's Disney HD (142) and ABC Family HD (141). Reportedly, the carrier now offers a whopping 63 high-definition channels in the Alamo City, while many of its markets suffer with just a handful. No, that's not bitterness you're detecting -- not at all. [
Disclosure: Engadget is part of the Time Warner family]
why are they trying to fool us?
Engadget is part of the Apple family, not the Time Warner family!
but seriously, i know up north an hour in NYC, TWC is absolutly horrendous. Where i live in central NJ we dont get TWC, rather Comcast
Which is pretty bad too
why cant all cable compaies treat everywhere like TWC treats Austin?!
Thats why i say everyone needs Dish or DirecTV
But back to the Article, too bad they give the most HD channels to a place where nobody knows what HD is
Engadget part of the Apple family yeah right.....Nobody knows what HD is hmm.... Houston 4th biggest city, San Antonio 7th, Austin 16th. I do wish TWC didnt sell us (Houston) to Comcast, but now TWC has more time to add more to the rest of Texas :(
How about updating the Los Angeles market lineup!
I'm not knocking another HD channel, but please send us some SciFi HD love, after all, we recently received the Planet Green HD and are enduring the Outdoor HD and Hallmark HD channels. Surely that should be enough penance by now.
Heck, does the ABC family HD have any HD programing at all?
ABC Family has "Greek" in HD.
WTF TWC??? TWC-Dallas, other than local HD channels has freaking 8 free HD channels (with four more pay HD movie channels). We don't have even the simple ones such as FSN SW HD, Discovery HD, Food HD, NFL Network HD, ESPNU HD, TBS HD, Travel HD, SciFi HD, CNN HD, History HD, VS HD, etc...
TWC = The Weather Channel
Exactly what I see every time.
I grew up in SA and always had time warner (once they bought out Paragon cable many years ago) and maybe all the HD channels are to make up for the HORRIBLY crappy customer service. I've had a few different providers in a few different locations - and TWC-San Antonio takes the crappiness cake for sure (just slightly ahead of TWC-Austin).
Yay! Finally a good reason to live in San Antonio.
i have time warner right now in san antonio and have whats called the Watch and Surf Package for only $84 and it includes Roadrunner Turbo (which has 10 MBPS) and as always HD is free with Time Warner. the reason i speculate they are so nice to us SA residents is cause San Antonio is home of AT&T (U-verse). I see commercials daily where Time Warner is pointing out something that their service has better than AT&T's. But the sad truth is that most people in this town are stuck with TW even though they don't want to cause they are the only carrier besides dtv and dish. I'm happy with TW, but they do have horrible customer service compared to U-verse. Expect an hour wait for a national (international) call center located in India who then transfers you to a local call center when they can't troubleshoot it themselves. my experiuence is always just to lie to them and tell them you already have a trouble ticket but didnt write the number down and got disconnected from Tier 2. And if you dont need a digital phone dont forget to inquire about that NON-advertised watch in surf package. One last thing is dont forget to ask for your free wireless router and wireless adapters (i think up to 4) that are included with Roadrunner Turbo. and free HD Box with free component or HDMI cable. Most techs forget to give them to you. Sorry for randomness. just small shit i think people should know. on an ending note, if U--verse is available in your area and you sign up online they giver you first month free service and $150 cashback w/o a contract. great deal in my my eyes if you can deal with VDSL. and remember 2HD/SD is rolling out today in our great city (just reset your box). ahh another reason they might have added the great disney to hd today.
Just some Speed Tests for RR Turbo:

I've gotta figure it's fear of U-Verse. But of course, they start adding a bunch of HD channels once my family switches to U-Verse. Great.
