Blu-ray releases on June 17th, 2008
After an impressive run the past month, we have the weakest lineup of releases in some time. We thought Be Kind Rewind was due last week, but evidently it was pushed back. So while it was just a foot note last week, it is the biggest title this week, with only Fool's Gold giving it any competition. This might not be that bad of a week for Blu though in the DVD vs Blu front, as DVD really doesn't have any releases worth mentioning either. There are two catalogs this week as well, and while we sure someone wants to see So I Married an Axe Murderer, we're more interested in seeing Men in Black in HD for the first time. Next week will have a few hot titles in store for us though, and also happens to be the last week there are any HD DVD titles left on the schedule -- although not from a big studio. With the summer in full swing, we have a nice lineup looking forward to July including the very first Blu-ray titles from Universal set to hit the streets in just over a month.Blu-ray
- Be Kind Rewind (New Line)
- Fool's Gold (Warner)
- Men in Black (Sony)
- So I Married an Axe Murderer (Sony)

The Men in Black BD got some good reviews, so I may end up picking that one up, if I can find a loss leader on it.
Be Kind Rewind was delayed long ago. The rumor started that the DVD was delayed so the Blu-Ray would get launched ahead of it, but both were delayed. This was at least a month ago.
I know you said you don't read every post, but you wrote this one:

Ohh I remember now, I just forgot last week when I wrote the post.
Terrible week for Blu releases. What does DVD releases have to do with Blu-Ray releases. I want older titles in Blu that have been available in DVD. Just because DVD has weak releases that doesn't mean that Blu needs to follow suit. Too many older, better titles are still not available in Blu.
You know, I actually like "So I Married An Axe Murderer" but can somebody explain to Sony that the words SPECIAL EDITION are not relevant when you do not put any special features on a disc! WTF???
truegamer, you are my hero.
Thank you again, trugamer!
Wow... just what everyone needs: to buy crappy movies we already own or never wanted the first time around.... why? Because they're BD? Who cares....
Well here is the thing. I really don't have much time to watch movies these days so if i'm going to watch something, you're darn right it's going to be on blu-ray.
I was on the fence about seeing be kind rewind. Now it's on blu and i'm going to see it.
So I Married An Axe Murderer is a funny film; don't prejudge.
a lot of people say this is mike meyers worst movie, but i happen to love it.
