Most useless stat ever. 100% cherry picked statistics. The PS2 (the first widespread dvd player) didn't even come out until the 3rd or 4th year of dvds existence. Whereas the PS3 STARTED blurays existence. Oh really, bluray is selling faster than dvd when it is included in a console that would have sold just as many units anyways? When compared to what? $500+ dvd stand-alones for 3+ years until the ps2 and other cheap dvd players came out? Wow. Is grass green too? Please, engadget/every other blog out there, just stop already...

pakron1122

Comments on Research firm says Blu-ray sales outpacing DVD sales of yesteryear in western Europe

Bravo pakron1122!

I think because Blu Ray is doing so poorly they have to shove these useless numbers at us to try and start some kind of buying frenzy.

Blu Ray will be adopted when the players sell for $99.00 - no sooner.

Vince

Comments on Research firm says Blu-ray sales outpacing DVD sales of yesteryear in western Europe

That may be the case in trailer parks across US perhaps but Europeans appreciate quality gear and know the difference between cost and value however.

maxpower

Comments on Research firm says Blu-ray sales outpacing DVD sales of yesteryear in western Europe

Yeah, only a billion dollars in revenue this year.
