Bright House launches 4 new HD channels in Tampa, Florida
Not like you didn't know three of the four were coming, but a tipster down in the Tampa Bay area just informed us that Bright House Networks has launched four new HD channels in Central Florida. As of now, MGM HD (710), Disney HD (735) and Family Channel HD (736) have been flipped on, and the elusive CNN HD has finally shown up on slot 728. Enjoy![Thanks, Jensen]

this is not an SDV launch, so they are using more bandwidth to deliver these channels. The new(old for TW) navigator software is the software/firmware they are currently upgrading Tampa and Orlando markets to with the claim of many new features and such. I was given this information in my bill April/May and am still running the same SARA based Town Square color accent that has been the same since my Explorer 2000 in 2001. I am now running the great (HAH) Explorer 8300HDC with I hope is a two-way cablecard hardware....
it might not be an SDV launch, but none of the 4 channels listed here - nor even 709, are showing up on cablecard equiped sets.
Over on the other coast (Brevard County here) we got MGM, Disney and ABC Family last week (none of which I'll actually watch), but still no CNN HD.
Bright House has some nice HD Channels. I am in Florida, and am currently under comcast. There are only 1 HD Channel for each premium channel, and the quality is nothing compared to a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, even at 720p. I wish brighthouse would come up to North Florida. Comcast is also expensive !! I would like to see what this Disney HD is all about.

This apparently doesn't apply to all of Central Florida. I am on Bright House and live due East of Tampa and we don't get CNN HD over here on the Eastern shore. We get the other 3 mentioned but not CNN HD.
I am in Downtown St. Petersburg in Pinellas County(Tampa Bay Urban Area) and get CNNHD from Brighthouse Networks on Channel 728 as of last night. A lot of the content is just boxed video and a larger news bar:)
I have yet to get the new navigator software promised by my bill back in late April which was to enable a lot of things and upgrade the GUI, and was going to include SDV... I have all four of these channels including CNN, but am still running the old SARA Explorer 2000 SA Town Square Guide on an 8300HDC waiting...
I would love to see CNN HD and Sci Fi HD in the Orlando market ...then I will be at peace.
I completely agree with you.
We need USA HD, FX HD, LifeTime HD, FoxNews HD and Sci Fi HD then I will be happy.
What they should do is block all the none HD channels from showing with the HD box when HD channel appear.
DIS and ABC fam HD are just SD on and HD broadcast and they look worse then the 480 channel version.
MGM-not too much in the original aspect ratio most is blown up to fit the screen.
I think that would be because a lot of content on MGM is old and film based converted. Does anyone else notice how this isn't SDV and seems like they squeezed CNNHD with all the artifacts and hiccups....
