James Bond classics coming to Blu-ray this October
Before you rush off to theaters to catch Quantum of Solace this November, MGM and Fox are planning to keep you squarely planted on the couch for at least a few days in October. Announced today, the two studios have agreed to push out a half dozen Bond classics on Blu-ray this October (20th internationally; 21st in North America), each of which will be "restored and re-mastered." The films in question are Dr. No, Die Another Day, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, From Russia With Love and Thunderball. There's no mention of a price just yet, but judging by how extraordinarily well Casino Royale did, we're sure these will do just fine.

a lot of those films didn't look that good on dvd. whats the point of graininess on blueray
With the right care and attention all of these could look amazing on Blu. You know Film is probably the best picture quality you can get, its the state of the negs which is the thing to watch.
(Lowery is doing it so it should be fantastic)
you want grain, as long as if it was how it was mean to be seen.
James bond releases are the worst in terms of packaging. Why do they mix up the damn movies so randomly? Why can't they have them boxed up in their order of theatrical release?
Seems like these are being released individually, so that at least is a plus in terms of selecting the movies I like and not having to be stuck with the Roger Moore crap I can't stand mixed in with the others.
Also, these moves are being "restored" yet again? FFS they've released the bond movies on DVD at least 3 times, each time claiming a new transfer from a restored master.
Give me some Goldeneye!
The Bond movies have been restored and actually mastered in 4K. Than down rezzed to HD. For older movies they will actually look very good to outstanding. The Sean Connery Bond movies were the best of the series so they will be worth a look on Blu-ray.
What about Octopussy????
Die another day... wtf Wheres goldeneye
Die Another Day has to be the worst of the whole series. I actually thought it was a pretty decent film until the action moves to London. Then the action goes from gritty to stupid with invisible cars, ice palaces and space lasers. And a cameo by an old trout. The most frustrating thing with movies like that is you can spot where they go off the rails and it makes you wonder why the filmmakers couldn't.
I wonder why they didn't include Goldfinger, certainly one of the best Bond movies?
Bond films look great in HD. I've seen almost all of them in HD on the tele.
A 1080p transfer should look amazing.
mmmm from love with russia
