Take all of this with a grain of salt for the time being, but word on the street has it that Pioneer has lowered the retail price of its BDC-S02BKZ Blu-ray Disc Combo drive in China by just over 41%. The new sticker shows 999 yuan ($145), while just last week it was marked 1,699 yuan ($247). We're also hearing that Pioneer will soon be lowering the retail price of its
BDC-S02 optical drive in the Taiwan market, and if that wasn't enough, (hopefully believable) sources have stated that Sony will launch a Blu-ray Disc Combo drive in this very region for around $230 next month. We can't say that
BD prices are where they need to be for mass adoption, but it's good to see them
finally headed in the right direction.

$145 is definitely the direction where it should be going. That's good news in general. I don't know if this is a burner too but $140 bucks for an HD drive is not too bad though I already gotten just recently HD DVD reader/ Blu-Ray burner combo drive for $170. So if it's not a burner it might be a bit less for what you pay for but it's definitely not a bad price.
BD Combo Drive: it’s an internal computer device that reads Blu-ray Discs (BDs), DVDs, and CDs, as well as writes DVDs and CDs.
now if was a burner, i'd be talking, but just a reader, lame
I bet that after the summer we will see burners for less than 100.
PC burners are a different kettle of fish to the whole retail Blu-ray video disc business as far as I'm concerned.
But I mean burners not ROM drives.
If a $100 = £50 reliable Blu-ray multi-burner is on the cards I might even be interested......
.......provided they can get the 50gb DL media reliable enough & out at a decent price.
Right now tho DVD & HDDs are a far more cost effective solution
and besides putting more movie files on the 1 disc or burning downloaded high def that's larger than a DVD9 to a single larger disc I really have no need for any of it right now anyways.
Blu-ray Blank disk still cost alot, 25gb for 20 bucks just simply not even close to mass markening, plus those usb drive is getting cheaper by days.
Apparently it's only 'negative' to tell the truth and point out that Blu-ray media is still laughably expensive.
It's way too 'negative' for some to make the accurate & totally true point that HDDs & 'ordinary' DVD are still by far the least expensive storage option.
Here in the UK it's £71.82 ($145) for a Verbatim 10 pack of x4 25gb discs with jewel case.
A single TDK 50gb DL disc is £26.22 ($53).
A single Sony 50gb DL disc is £19.70 ($40)
A single Verbatim x4 25gb disc is £6.58 ($13)
A single Sony x2 25gb disc is £10.88 ($21)

Wow, excellent last post btw. Congrats.
Told you. :P
Yeah yeah yeah, sure it is.
As seems to be the norm around here with your Blu-ray fanboy lot you'll either just use an existing alternative identity or invent a new name.
(no need to deny it it is a fact & exactly what several of them said to me I should do here on these boards)
Eith way you'll be around.
jesus christ...
Your Lord & Saviour, perhaps?
