They're based out of somewhere in the US (California I think). They use generic LCD parts purchased straight from many of the same manufacturers that build the high-end LCD components. Most review sites rate Vizio highly for their value but usually don't give them quite as high a score as the Samsungs and Sonys on visual quality. I personally would have no concerns about buying one; they seem to have a strong product.

mbmurray

Comments on VIZIO intros XVT Series of 1080p LCDs / plasmas

I purchased a vizio about a month ago and I'm very pleased with it. I got the 42" 1080P VW42LF model. It was only ~990 something. I use it mostly for PS3 and movies. I know a few others with various other vizio's and I don't know anyone who has complained. But I'm sure if this thread stays active long enough some jack will complain. They always do!!! ;-)

biggulpmark

Comments on VIZIO intros XVT Series of 1080p LCDs / plasmas

I have that same T.V. I purchased it a week ago and its awesome. It was $996+ tax. I wish it had Picture in Picture. I don't really know if that Natural Motion thing would be a big feature for me, but I've seen it and it makes movies look like home video style. Made in California with a lot of the same parts as the big three S's. My wife and I decided to switch to ATT U-verse, and when the guy installed it I looked at ESPN in HD to get a feel for their picture, and told him to pull it all out and plug my DirectTV back in. The Vizio was able to clearly show me the difference in image quality between the two feeds. This past year's Super Bowl was phenomenal on my Vizio -- the picture quality is superb. I'm seriously considering this new XVT line, and moving a larger screen into the family room. 6,500:1 contrast is way up there. My brother in law has a 42-inch Samsung (plasma) and I believe my Vizio LCD has a much better picture. My 2¢.

Chris Morris

Comments on VIZIO intros XVT Series of 1080p LCDs / plasmas

I have had vizio since they have been out and have had no problem(since 2004), now i recently purchased the 47' xvt 1080p 120 hz and im not sure if mine has a problem but the image tends to freeze and show the image of the pixels move to catch up.. My tv of choice as always been a Vizio. We recently purchased the new XVT SV420 47" and have had no problems with it. It's got great quality, great picture and sound - 120Hz, 1080 P Full HD, the works. And let me tell you - it looks really nice in the family room! I heard a lot of great reviews, so that's why we decided to head to Costco and buy it and I agree with all the reviews I read. Great choice.

Tracie

Comments on VIZIO intros XVT Series of 1080p LCDs / plasmas

THats Me

I Just bought the 47" xvt and had the same problem. I simply turned the smooth motion effect to "high" somewhat better but what fixed my problem with the pixel catchup problem was turning off the "real cinema mode". No more pixel catchup on fast camera pans.

I really like this TV for the money

Costco has them for the best price I've found but they were out of stock and Circuit City Price Matched at a $500 difference.
