Full disclosure: I work at RealD. Here are the facts: RealD has committed deals for over 5,000 3D screens, while Dolby 3D has 350. Another fact: any 3D screen of a decent size needs a new screen whether it's a Dolby system or a RealD system. Dolby systems need a high-gain white screen; RealD systems need a silver screen. The theater is switching screens either way, unless it is a very small cinema. Is Engadget in the pay of Dolby?
