Blu-ray releases on July 1st, 2008
We have fourteen new titles for Blu-ray this week and believe it or not it is a slow start to the biggest Blu month to date. The biggest week is at the end of the month, when twenty four new releases hit the streets thanks to some help from Universal's first Blu-ray titles. Although there are plenty of new titles this week, there really isn't much to talk about. The biggest title is easily Vantage Point, but that isn't saying much as one of the only other day-and-date releases up against it was Meet the Browns, which with its IMDB rating of 2.2 puts it at number seventy on the list of all time worst movies. There are a few good catalogs this week though, like In the Line of Fire, there are also a few concerts. Next week doesn't have as many new releases with only eight, but it is Batman week as the nine month wait for a Blu-ray version of Batman Begins is finally over. Now Warner, about The Matrix...Blu-ray

I remember getting the (60's) Batman movie on VHS for my tenth bday. I wanted to slap my parents then. Now, as an adult, I *would* slap my parents (or anyone else) who got me that movie.
Batman (1990), Batman Returns, and Batman Begins on Blu, PLEASE!!!!
Batman Begins? Ask and ye shall receive... next week, baby! $18.95 at Amazon. :)
Thanks again truegamer. So people can now get a profile 1.1 player for effectively $199 (plus an additional hundo toward Disney BDs)? Wow, I thought for sure we'd have to wait until the holidays to start seeing prices this aggressive. I wonder how they're going to top these kinds of deals come Black Friday? I can't wait to see this promised end of year push for Blu-ray.
Seeing the Blade Runner set going for $12 is just amazing. Talk about a great value.
Also, this reminds me I was going to preorder Beat The Devil and The Last Time I Saw Paris. For eight bucks apiece it's hard to go wrong there, especially since they have decent reviews.
no Videoscan numbers this past weekend?
I wondered that myself. Home Media Magazine usually appears on Saturday but it wasn't out the last time I checked.
We'll post them as soon as the digital edition goes live.

They've got the DVD/BR VideoScan results for week ending June 22.
sorry...I meant to CALL MYSELF "mr. lazypants".
DrXym and Ben's comments weren't showing before I posted...
A pretty weak lineup. I expect sales will fall and we'll see the usual crybabies screaming that somehow this means its the end of format.
