I just got DIRECTV On Demand service. I am not happy so far. I had to upgrade my DVR to the HR20 model. This costs $199 plus tax. The upgrade has not been easy. DIRECTV failed to send the B-Band boxes with the DVR and it has taken 5 slow calls to their 800 number to get the kinks ironed out (they did not "turn on" DVR service automatically at installation, for example). The chief disappointment is the download speed. About 45-60 minutes for a single episode of "Weeds" (a 30 min Showtime episode). At that rate a full length movie would take 3-4 hours! My connection is broadband/cable modem and a speed test immediately after the Weeds download showed 1.2 mb/sec on my end. By contrast my brother-in-law has Cox Cable On Demand and his speeds are astonishing: he starts an Cox On Demand movie and he can fast forward thought the credits!!! I am not impressed with this DIRECTV On Demand service. It is expensive, difficult, and slow.
“An engineer explained to us that hundreds of ear impressions were gathered in the name of research, and while each one obviously boasted its own unique shape and size, one single characteristic remained uniform across the board: the entrance into the ear canal is not a perfect circle, it's an oval.”
