DISH Network gets official with summer / fall HD locals
Remember those 20-some-odd cities we heard were getting HD locals via DISH Network earlier this year? Yeah, the satcaster has just now gotten around to confirming what we already knew, but it's good to have something to hold 'em to, regardless. As of today, Grand Rapids, Michigan and Memphis, Tennessee can both look forward to seeing their local channels in high-definition, while 22 other markets are on the clock. As for timing, all we know is that these 22 will be launched sometime during summer / fall of 2008, but it looks like you'll be waiting patiently to find out if your market is closer to going live now or later. How long after they say the HD locals have "launched" does it take for them to actually show up. I'm in GR, and I was excited to get home last night to see my locals in all their HD glory...but I was kicked in the shins when I got home and it was still in crappy SD.
Just got off the phone with dish...apparently you need to have a dish point at 61.5 which I do not...60 bucks or a new 2 year agreement to get another dish pointed in that direction....for 4 freaking channels...man they are good at this.
Yet again, no love for the left coast! Apparently there aren't enough people out west to warrant any consideration for HD Locals!
