One of the most highly anticipated new Blu-ray players is the Panasonic
DMP-BD50 and after
months and
months of waiting it is starting to show up as in stock on various obscure online retailers. A quick search online shows that the big box stores have yet to receive their initial shipments, but it is safe to assume that when the likes of 6th Ave and Rainbow Electronics has them, widespread availability can't be too far behind. The first full featured Blu-ray that includes everything from
BD Live, to internal
DTS-HD MA decoders won't come cheap though, the initial prices are right at the retail of $699.

There nuts!!!
Where nuts!!??
$699, bargain! I'm sure the local Walmart will do brisk sales on this one......
I was going to get my hands on this player, but 700 dollars its too much for this dvd player in my eyes. I still think that the bluray players coming this year are not finished. Next year we will hear profile 3.0.
After I saw that this was going to be $699, I gave up and got a PS3. I'll keep my BD30 on my receiver that can handle the DTS Master Audio/Dolby True HD and put the PS3 where the BD 30 would have gone - upstairs in the loft. Disappointing, I was really hoping for a decent price point on this one.
I can't find these at any online merchants. 6th Ave says Out of Stock and has a price of $749. Cnet says not available at any online retailers. Point me in the right direction, please.
What is Endgadget talking about? The BD 50 is nowhere to be found. Just stupid hype! Who cares about Profile 2.0
Tomorrow it is two weeks ago I got mine. Live in Europe.
Nice player btw. When I go to VMworld I'll probably pick one up in the US and take home with me, so I can watch reg A as well.
