Cablevision to introduce 15 new HD channels
Let's face it: particularly in the Empire State, Cablevision simply has to elevate its game. With DirecTV and DISH Network offering a multitude of high-def options and Time Warner Cable dishing out a slew of its own, Cablevision has been properly left in the dust. Now, however, the carrier is deciding to do something about it by adding 15 new high-definition channels to its lineup. As of now, we know that Nickelodeon HD, AMC HD, Animal Planet HD, WEtv HD, Weather Channel HD, FX HD, Hallmark Movie Channel HD, FOX News HD and Travel Channel HD will be added, but the rest of the gang remains a mystery. Don't sweat it, though -- select subscribers will see the entire lot as early as July 28th, while the entire service area will be good to go by August 1st.[Thanks, Tom]

hooray!
FX HD just in time for THE SHIELD in September (assuming they film it in HD).
Hope SCI FI HD is one of those unnamed channels.
I also hope that Sci-fi-HD is added to the line up. I sent them an email a while back asking for that channel.
WE, Weather Channel, Hallmark, Fox News? What a crock. What about Sci Fi, HD-Net/Movies, Cartoon Network, MGM, Science Channel and USA HD? Leave it to Dolan and co. to pick among the dreck when far superior channels are available on other providers.
.....
I want DiscoveryHD.... why is that so hard to ask for :('
I just can't imagine this working though... my picture quality has gotten progressively worse since Cablevision has moved to SDV, most channels jump in and out, and some channels even come up as "channel not available."
Cablevision would lose so many customers if Verizon would get up off their ass and get FiOS in my area.
I just got Cablevision's HD channels. I was always getting channel not available for certain HD channels. Cable repairman told me I had to live with it. I shut the cable box off at night and when the tv is not on. ALL OF A SUDDEN NO MORE PROBLEMS.
Therefore, if you want to prevent Channel not available just shut the cable box off when you turn off the tv at night. No problems since then
I just hope that none of these are SDV channels. I need my HD channels on my TiVo, not that crap STB that Cablevision touts as "same thing as a TiVo"
You can take my Voom, but you can't take my dignity!
Guys, article lists Discovery in there...it's the first one.
I have reason to believe that the other five channels are Sci-Fi HD, truTV HD, QVC HD, A&E HD, and TLC HD.
It is interesting of note that as of May, that Animal Planet and the Travel Channel (both confirmed for the next batch of HD channels) were made available only to televisions with a digital cable box. The other major channels included in that switch were TLC, A&E, E!, Sci-Fi, truTV, QVC and C-SPAN 2. The five speculated above are already being broadcast in HD elsewhere. E! is planning to HD by the end of the year, and I'm not sure on C-SPAN 2.
Well, I just called Cablevision, and NO Sci-Fi HD, unless the CS rep i spoke to read me the wrong list of channels... They said the following were the channels...
AMC HD, Animal Planet HD, Discovery Channel HD, FoxNews HD, FX HD, Hallmark HD, IFC HD, Nikelodeon HD, Science Channel HD, Spped Hd, Spike Hd, Weather Channel HD, TLC HD, Travel HD, and WE HD.
I am hoping she was wrong and said Science Channel and really meant Sci-Fi...
I live on Burke Ave in the Bronx near Boston Rd and i am happy to announce my fios tv/internet installation date of August 7th ... i can not wait ..CABLEVISION TOO LITTLE TO LATE!!! I HATE THE DOLANS ..
