Assuming it works as intended, it would allow one to control the PS3 playback over HDMI through either the TV or Receiver.
I was just thinking the same thing the other day. They've thrown random things in before, like a few updates ago it would remember where you were in a movie if you stopped it or turned off the PS3.
Does the PS3 hardware support such a thing? I'm sure there has to be more to it than a few lines of code.
