San Diego FOX / ABC affiliates taking local news high-def
While KFMB-TV has had a stranglehold on the HD news market in sunny San Diego, that's about to change. Beginning in September, the local ABC affiliate (KGTV) will begin airing its local newscasts in high-definition, and for those impatient souls, the local FOX affiliate (KSWB-TV) will be making the same switch on August 1st. Furthermore, KUSI-TV Channel 51 is expecting to take "everything on the channel, including local news broadcasts," to the high-def realm starting in February of next year. Seems like a few other cities could learn something from this one.[Thanks, Tony]

Sweet! I'm glad to hear our local stations are really gearing up for HD. After all, it's only been about ten years since we've had high def on the air...
BTW, for any other San Diego area folks out there, Channels 6 and 69 are swapping affiliates on August 1. Channel 6 (XETV) is changing from Fox to CW, and 69 (KSWB) is going from CW to Fox. It's all quite confusing. :)

Yeah, the 6 5/69 swap is really odd. Apparently Fox wanted an affiliate here that's fully in the US (6 is broadcast from TJ, for the non San Diegans).
So technically the article is wrong... since KSWB is not yet the local affiliate. Wonder if they'll put in a request to change the call letters there immediately upon switch over too. :)
Yeah, I guess they should change to KSFX or something, right?
