TiVo's 9.4 update trickling out to Series 3 / TiVo HD users

Oh, glorious day! TiVo HD and Series 3 owners can rejoice, as the v9.4 software update is finally being pushed out (ahead of official schedule, might we add) to select users. Truthfully, the update doesn't add much, but the Play Folder -- which enables users to store up episodes in sequence and watch 'em at once -- and easier closed captioning operations are much appreciated. I'm hoping they've fixed the HD freezing problem. It's happened to me a couple of times and restarting the unit is not the most pleasant thing to do in the middle of a favorite show.

My TiVo HD reboots randomly but thankfully not very often.

Rob, if your TiVo is freezing then it is probably full. However, a software update could keep it from overfilling itself.

I found a clip on YouTube showing how the unit would freeze when switching from hd to sd and then back to hd. I tried it and it did freeze. So I had to unplug the power cord for a few seconds because the gui would not respond. I'm hoping the new software will correct it.

My TiVo HD got the update sometime today. Haven't tested it yet.

I've never had the freezing problem, but I have found this software to make my TiVo HD seem more responsive in pulling up long lists (to do, upcoming showings, etc.).
