TWC posts rollout schedule for HD channels in Southern California
For the zillions of folks located in Southern California, you may be wondering when exactly the new dozen from Time Warner Cable would hit your neighborhood. Wonder no more, as TWC has posted a rollout schedule with loads of communities filed under July, August and September. You know what they say about patience, right? Too little, too late, Time Warner. U-verse came to West Hills and I've been with them since April so now I don't have to wait for September for your HD rollout (just in time to miss the Olympics!). They'll have to kiss my butt on Topanga Canyon Blvd, where the area TWC office is located, to get me back.
While we're at it, the U-verse interface is absolutely gorgeous compared to the crayon scrawl that is the SA8300 menu system. I guess I should thank TWC for forcing me to at&t so I could get some HD content and a better experience.
The new HD channels just hit here in Orange, CA, but they were heavily pixelated, and some just didn't work at times. Luckily I too got Uverse installed on Wednesday and haven't looked back. Just have to watch a few shows on my 8300 HDC piece of crap DVR and then it all goes back to Time Warner. Even though the AT&T internet is technically slower, it seems to respond faster, and though Uverse has limitations (2 HD streams, only 1 DVR), I'm very happy with it when compared to TWC.
Are these going to be SDV or not?
I think they are. I've tried to watch some On Demand content but I get an error message about 2-way communication problems. I'm thinking that when they add the new channels we'll see a firmware upgrade that will change how the content is accessed.
bummer not to see arcadia on the list. maybe I am included as East LA :/
As much as I want to switch to U-Verse it just won't work with MythTV and that is the deal breaker. :(
I just got an e-mail from twc that my area, Baldwin Park, will get the 12 HD channels on November 12, 2008 which I think includes your area as well considering my closest cable store is in Arcadia.
am I blind or just not aware that San Diego is no longer in So Cal?
Maybe we will get new channels by 2010, but Time Warner will be lucky if a lot of us are still with them by the end of 2008. Crime Warner indeed!
What about Santa Ana? I am right on the border of Santa Ana and Orange, but technically Santa Ana. I sure hope we have the extra HD channels. Its been long enough of a wait!
jkirby17 I'm in the same situation and just received an email from TWC and it said these should be available Nov 12th,
what about downey? the south bay? westwood?
those are the only family/friend places i visit often enough that havn't upgraded to directv or some other source of HD goodness.
luckily for me, there's no cable lines to run a drop to my house, so I didn't get sucked back in to time warner before i got to try out satellite. what a revelation that was.
While we are at it, I don't see...
Venice
Culver City
Santa Monica
Something doesn't smell right here.
i just noticed that these are probably all lumped in (along with westwood) in west LA.
but still, there are plenty of heavily populated cities missing from this list.
Also, no Placentia/Fullerton. I was PROMISED (taken with a grain of salt) that I would have the channels on July 9 with everyone else. Now, they don't know when (read: or if) that will ever happen to my little burb. On the plus side (for TWC) I do not have a southern-facing sky or a FIOS option.
"And I think to myself ..... what a wonderful world."
Finally! I can't wait to have NatGeo and Discovery in HD.
No love for Long Beach huh?
Glad Vz just strung the fiber behind my house last week. Engineer said they will start connecting to houses in August. FU TWC! Long live FIOS!
got it already out here in Rialto, my friends in Loma Linda also got theirs, though its not a nice as I has hoping but its better then their very heavily compressed SD Channels.
