I would say yes. Yet the Sony XBR 8 to go into battle with the 9 Series also doesn't offer a 40" version. Last years 81 series does offer a 40" so it is more than likely in the future for a 40" to be offered. Yet I can see them thinking most people who purchase a high end set plan on placing it in the living room and most people look to the 46" size (that was my experience back when I sold TVs)
