My move to U-verse was soooo sweet with a much better picture (and audio). And actual HD channels to watch! I'm in heaven. I do miss HDTheater, though. at&t got the Car-HDTheater instead of the Nature-HDTheater. Not so compelling. Cars that were considered weenie when I was a kid selling for $60,000 is more than I can take. I'll have to check out this so-called poll to see what's what.

Rick K.

Comments on AT&T finally breaks the half million mark with U-verse customers

Ewe, a Bose 321 GS system!

Ken

Comments on AT&T finally breaks the half million mark with U-verse customers

I had dish network and uverse became available in my area about two months ago. First month is free, so I decided to A/B the two.

I don't want to get into specifics, but running through my 720p Panasonic plasma TV, (which was/is considered the best plasma TV by consumer reports) there is a significant difference in quality between Uverse and Dish.

I am not partial to Dish (I really don't want the dishes on my house, and I don't think their customer service is very good), but there is simply no comparison in picture quality. Seriously, there is what I would subjectively say is a 35% quality drop off.

I asked the uverse installer to tell me why there was such a drop off. He said, and I quote "I had not seen the two services compared before, do you want to cancel right now, or just use it for a month?" He was apologetic and called his boss to see if there was anything that could be causing this aside from the quality in service, but his boss said no, that there was simply a difference.

I don't even know what to say further to impress what I view as a significant objective quality difference. If anyone who is a big Uverse supporter would like to rebut these claims, please let me know. I guess there is a chance that something is wrong with my feed, but I'd like to know since Uverse is cheaper and doesn't use unsightly dishes.

I use AT&T for everything else that they provide, but I simply have to stick with Dish on their TV service.

mitch
