Universal HD claims there's more than the Olympics going on in August
Universal HD hopes to pump up its lineup around the Beijing Olympics, featuring Olympic Trials highlights in "Olympic Athlete Weekend" on August 2 and 3. Beyond just the coverage around the events in China there will also be plenty of extreme sports and boxing coverage all month. The news that season 4 Battlestar Galactica premieres on the station next month would be more exciting if this were last year and the Sci Fi HD simulcast hadn't launched already, but in case you didn't/don't have the station yet, there you go. Hopefully when the offices are moved from LA to New York -- along with Sleuth and Chiller -- NBC Universal will find some more compelling original content to fill the time after the Olympics are over.Read - Universal HD presents an Olympic themed August in honor of the Beijing Olympics

Forget Universal HD, I want BSG on BLU-RAY!!!! Come on!
Add 1 to the list of people waiting for BSG on blu...
I got season 1 on HDDVD for $30. I love my samsung bd-up5000.
Shawnmos,
Considering BSG season 1 on HDDVD is now a collectors item, having all seasons on blu-ray would make sense going forward. I have Seaon 1 & 2 on DVD but they do not look good upscaled. So I have stopped buying them on DVD and I won't buy anything else on DVD, so I am waiting for all BSG titles to come out on blu-ray....
On a side note, another favorite of mine, Robin Hood (new series from BBC) is coming out on blu-ray, will be getting that!
That's nothing. I've bought Season 2 from iTunes as 320x240 quicktimes that barely look acceptable on a 5g ipod
Considering TW here in Austin doesn't have SciFi HD, this is a welcome note...
I have it on both DVD and HD-DVD and the PQ is so-so. The show is supposed to have a rough look to it, so I think they are intentionally making it dull (soft) and drab, then adding some noise to set the mood and tone. Some facial close-ups, CGI space scenes can look amazing, but without a side-by-side comparison it's hard to tell the 2 versions apart and probably not worth the extra money to buy it on Blu-Ray, at least if the season 1 HD version is how seasons 2, 3 and 4 are going to look.
On cable, I have watched the SciFi SD broadcast (using the zoom function on my TV) and in HD on UnHD. The HD version is better, but not blow you away better.
This is definitely one of those "this is what they intended" that many will confuse with issues in the technology. It's amazing how many people calling themselves "HD fans" who seem to completely lack any understanding of how TV/films are made AND the freedom the makers have to present the look.
Just lie when I first got my HD LCD, I freaked about how dark some stuff was. BUT at the time I had not bee into a movie theater that frequently. Like those "fans" I complained about "crushed blacks." Well, when I got the chance to see some of that stuff in a movie theater, I realized that my LCD HD was showing exactly what the filmmaker desired me to see. Dark and murky was exactly what was clearly intended. NO FAULT to the technology.
