How much for the almost equally sized price sticker?
@Jon4Lakers
Why are you gay?
I like how 99% are just senselessly babbling or trying to make jokes. This is not insignificant. If they can price it at about $1700, that means it must cost less than $1700 to manufacture. That is good because if I applies moore's law directly (although it might not work like that) in 2 years it will cost less than $850 to manufacture. Meaning we could probably afford a 30inch OLED by then!!! (or at least the medium-high class people here could afford it)
FAIL!
Moore's law has nothing to do with price drops or product manufacturing.

You guys should have really paid attention in geometry class. This screen has a diagonally measured screen size of 15.45 inches. Not 11 inches. I know it's a small difference, but get your facts straight.
Ah, caught myself. That is including the bezel. My bad. 11 inches without the bezel.
@Silverfrog
I would suggest that you do the same. The overall product diagonal is 15.45 inches, true, but that is not the diagonal of the screen.
Sony's spec lists the dimensions as (Approx.) : 11 5/6 x 9 15/16 x 5 1/2" (287 x 253 x 140mm) *with stand*.
Sony also specifically mentions in their spec...
Screen Size : 11 inches measured diagonally
Call me when it shows up at WalMart for $998. Then I'll come running.
It may be small, but it's the best picture you've ever seen on a TV. Seriously amazing. And it's not even HD resolution.
If you haven't been to a SonyStyle store (or Sam's, I guess) to see it, I highly recommend you do so... you'll only wish you could get a bigger version.
Wow, I really like their advertising slogan at the back...
"Any television can change channels... The Sony's XEL-1 completely changes television"
That'd be prefect for my dorm room, but I don't think i'd ever drop $1,748 on a TV when i could get a new Laptop. or pay for gas for that matter.
I wish that I caught an eye on the price, but I saw this guy last week at Heathrow:

Being that it was a Sony Style in the UK, I'm guessing it was way too expensive though :(
From SonyStyle.com
"Resolution:
Display resolution of 960 x 540 yields the same pixel density as a 1080p 40" (measured diagonally) LCD TV."
This is a new technology people. It's not going to be judged by the same standards. Just the same way that LCD and Plasma TVs that look exactly the same have different contrast ratio numbers.
Whe I worked at Best Buy about 10 years ago in high school we always eneded open box items with something other than 99 cents. Could it be marked at $1748.51 because it was returned or a demo unit?
Let us know when the price hits $300 for a 17inches one
This reminds me of how smug and superior I felt for returning a cordless phone from V-Tech I received as a gift in exchange for the shiny Sony cordless model for $50 more. Superior technology right?
Years later when the phone finally gave out I open it up to look inside and what did I see etched on the motherboard? V-Tech.
