Hmm. I already have this film on HD DVD, so it'll be a tough sell for me. The kids like it, but I don't want to drop another $35.
what the hell are we talking bout here? BLUE AND RED 3D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! C'MON GIMME A BREAK!! WHO F%*&ING CARES? ??
I'm hoping for polarized glasses, but I'll wait until it drops below $15. I'll probably Netflix till then.
Isn't polarized impossible without 2 projectors?
Andy, yes it is. Polarized three day requires to projectors that have different filters. There are variations of it currently in use, but none are currently able to be used at home. Right now, with home, you either have the red/blue or the synchronized alternating LCD glasses.
I hope it's the RealD 3D, not that crappy Blue and Red stuff
I'd like to own this as a 3D film IF I read any reviews that state the 3d is decent. It could very well be good because of the difference between 480 and 1080 with the 3D, it will certainly be, at the least, improved over earlier video efforts. I would only buy it, though, to replace my current blu-ray if this time around, they add a lossless audio track, which is sadly missing from the previous edition because this film has a great soundtrack.

I'm just disappointed that Disney didn't elect to include on the upcoming BD the 3D version of The Nightmare Before Christmas that's been showing in theaters during the past two Halloweens.
I dont see how polarized glasses could work unless the movie is running 50/60 fps, the TV is perfectly showing those frames with no pulldown and there is a way to perfectly sync the glasses to the display. It has to be red/green or red/blue glasses. The only other kind of passive glasses I've seen caused some kind of parallax illusion in the brain and required constantly left:right motion to work. I can't see that being much fun unless they want all the kids to have convulsions.
I really dont see this one as a big seller either. BD is better left delving into the mass data market for PCs as most customers still arent jumping in on the home viewing market. At least with the jump from VHS to DVD they were offering a much smaller media format as well as increased video quality. The mass market they are hoping for is for a "throng" of new BD adopters rushing out to replace their existing DVD collections and also buy in to the much higher cost of BD movies....ain't gonna happen, sorry. Now with HD downloads via On Demand (and others) kind of makes owning any HD or BD player meaningless.
Youd be amazed to know that there are MANY people quickly converting from DVD to BD.
Besides this isnt just about the BD sales. The 3D version comes out for DVD as well.
I can guarantee that by 2015 90% of the current DVD owners have switched to a BD player. Sadly, by then, the next format is probably in the market.

I saw Polar Express at an IMAX theater and was extremely impressed and hopeful that someday it would be released on some sort of a home version 3D system. I too wish it would be the polarization glasses IMAX uses, but in this early stage of home 3D development, I will
hopefully be satisfied with the red/blue glasses. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised when NASA had the Mars Rover images in 3D using the r/b glasses that aired on HDNET.
Let's give this a chance and see how this looks. I can't imagine Warner Brothers taking such a risk if the product will not satisfy the viewers. If this first phase of 3D home video generates sales and revenue, this technology will grow just as color television did in the 50's-60's. For the majority of you that was not born yet, color tv in the early years was blurry on it's amazing 21" round picture tube...yet people paid a month or more salary for one!! Although it has taken a half century, look where we are now!
