You need a PC to run this, so why not just connect said PC via DVI-HDMI cable and a toslink for audio and be done. $10 worth of cables and bob's your uncle. Then you can surf the interwebs with a nice wireless keyboard and mouse.

If you give up Netflix you can even use a Mac with a bluetooth KB & Mouse.

MadMike

Comments on PlayOn media server update smashes bugs, adds 64-bit Windows support

Said PC is someones desktop PC in a different room 99% of the time. Moving it next to the TV would be very inconvenient unless you bought a HTPC specifically for it instead. At which point $30 starts to look like a better solution because then you don't have to putz around and buy a second machine.

But hey, if you are fine with lugging around your desktop all over your house every time you want to stream Netflix on your TV, more power to you.

Pip

Comments on PlayOn media server update smashes bugs, adds 64-bit Windows support

The purpose is so you dont have to use anymore cables. I am currently doing what you said and the wires are just a mess... As neat as it is, i would rather have my laptop sitting in a corner and no where near my TV... Wall mount baby... I spent most of late last night scrolling through the hulu catalogue of shows. I hope they plan on adding Hulu's movie catalogue as well. Yes, you can do the same type of thing for cheaper than $30. Don't want to buy it, than don't. Simple as that. It does make your PS3 or 360 that much more user friendly though and it sure beats having to use a keyboard and mouse in the living room.

Nick

Comments on PlayOn media server update smashes bugs, adds 64-bit Windows support

I think this software is pretty great. Browsing all the TV shows on hulu on my big TV was fun. A million times better than the "on-demand" junk available through comcast.

I can't wait to see what netflix options become available. Personally I think it's worth the $30 to make my ps3 more featured of a media center.

ps3user
