Earlier this month, we found that North American TV shipments were up a whopping
28% year-over-year, yet some analysts are strongly suggesting that across-the-board price drops are near. Granted, one research institute already predicted that flat-panel
prices would
decline substantially in 2008, so it's not like this assumption is brand new or anything. Nevertheless, Andrew Abrams, executive director and senior analyst at Avian Securities, is proclaiming that a "substantial" drop could come in October, leaving us to wonder just how cheap sets will be on that fateful day-after-Thanksgiving. Any wild guesses out there?
50" 1080P KUROS for $999
LOL!! Last Comic Standing!!!
I'm just hoping for the $199 BluRay.
how about a 300 buck Black Friday price for a 32" VIZIO LCD HDTV....
sounds about right to me
I could buy four more PS3's and have streaming throughout my house for less! Including SACD's! Pioneer must be crazy. They should have asked Denon and Marantz how many of their overpriced units have been sold.
Last years black Friday was weird when I worked at Circuit city. The sets that were on sale were the lower end mid tier sets, Vizio, Zenith Plasma, Panasonic, older Samsung Plasma, and Sharps.
That Saturday after the Sony XBR and Samsung 71 series were dirt cheap. I thought it was an insult to those people who waited Friday. All the people who came in the next day got really good deals on the high tier sets. I remember the 52" XBR4's retail was $5000 and usually go for $4000 and that Saturday it was on sale for $3000 same thing with the 52" 71 series.
my prediction for BF 2008 is...
42" 720p plasma for $599
50" 720p plasma for $799
50" 1080p plasma for $1149
32" 720p lcd for $499
40" 1080p lcd for $799
46" 1080p lcd for $999
52" 1080p lcd for $1299
What I'd like to see:
55" LCD 1080p24 120Hz 1,000,000:1 Super-Slim --> $800
