If this does for Blu-ray what the DVD-S2700 did for upconverting players, it should be a fantasic piece.
And to David. What sort of testing have you done with say, the DVD-S1800 or DVD-S2700? It seems all you do is bash products without so much as one tecnical fact. So my advise to you is to STFU.
I tested the 2700 against the Oppo 983 just for upconverting and the the 983 killed the 2700 by a wide margin.
Yamaha does not make a good LD player (they were rebadged Pioneer), Yamaha does not make a good DVD player (they were rebadged Philips, Panasonic, Pioneer). Never I said they don't have a good optical player, I'm just saying that they never made it themself.
Denon: does not do rebadge Onkyo: does not do rebadge Panasonic: does not do rebadge Pioneer: does not do rebadge

FYI: Onkyo's HD DVD player was a rebadged Toshiba. Try not to speak in absolutes.
