Blu-ray releases on August 26th, 2008
Here we are at the last week of August, and although there hasn't been that many titles to get excited about, there have been more titles released then ever before. Starting with September, the rest of the year looks like the trend of more than ten titles a week will continue, but more interestingly, there are quite a few to look forward to. But before we get ahead of ourselves, we can enjoy a few day-and-date releases like Sony's Redbelt and Fox's What Happens in Vegas. At the same time Warner has a few classics to share, including a personal favorite, Pale Rider. Universal continues to play catchup by releasing previous HD DVD titles on Blu-ray with Heroes (season 1 and 2) U-571 and End of Days. Overall it's not as bad as it's been, but looking forward to September, there are over eighty titles on the calendar and with Weistein finally getting in the mix in a couple of weeks, the time is finally arriving for Blu-ray to put up or shut up.Blu-ray

Now that they have "Dude, Where's My Car?", I have a reason to get a Blu-Ray player.
This is when it starts getting expensive. I had Heroes SSN 1 and 2 and Miami Vice preordered. Now I'm thinking about getting the Nightmare before Christmas too. The holiday season is going to kill. Maybe I can buy some for my wife and call them Christmas presents :)
i thought that's where the whole "its better to give than receive" came from people actually buy others gifts with not other intent? hmm..interesting.
Hey, and don't forget that 'Nightmare before Christmas' has 7.1 audio :-)
What bothers me is, if you look at the titles being released, why are people so surprised when the sales numbers come up. There's no BIG releases so why do people expect Blu-Ray to perform so well? Transformers will create a spike, so will The Dark Knight, Ironman and The Matrix. Not that many people will be replacing crap but then everyone complains when Blu's numbers suck! It just shows how little people understand about whats going on.
Big title = decent Blu-Ray numbers, everything else = crap. I know a lot of people like Heros but thats a box set and that makes it that much more expensive so I doubt it will draw in large numbers. I do like End Of Days but not enough to upgrade my DVD.
Was Pale Rider actually released today? When I went to buy it, Future Shop Canada, it was on the shelf but the computer said the release was Sept 9th. They were unable to fix it, seems odd they would have it in stock but not be able to sell it for 2 weeks.
Is there any place that lists Canadian street dates for blu-ray?
