I Am Legend Ultimate Collectors Edition Blu-ray double-dips December 9
Ready for even more double dipping? Warner is returning December 9 with the I Am Legend Ultimate collectors Edition in a 2-disc Blu-ray set with a $59.99 MSRP. Exclusive on Blu-ray are picture-in-picture Focus Points that let you watch the making of during the movie on a Bonus View-capable player. As pictured above, the box packs in a 44-page sketch book, art cards and more. That's quite a spread for one movie (and yes, the alternate ending is included in this release also), enough to make you go back for more?

For as much as Blu-rays are to start, the likelihood of me buying a movie again are slim to none. Let alone I am Legend was just ok...
Double-dips are the "ultimate" rip-off. Most studios come out with double-dips, triple-dips, or even quadriple-dips to fill the gaps in product releases because they can't produce enough quality new movies.
I Am Legend wasn't even that great of a movie...I don't see how anyone can justify spending that much cash on it..
This double dip seems ok to me, just based on the major differences between the 2. Its not like they are just slapping the phrase "special edition" on it and adding one special feature. Am I buying it? No...
"enough to make you go back for more?"
HELL NO
no WAY!!! I paid 18 bux for a brand new copy from amazon for this movie on BD and am completely satisfied.
NO! Stop that! How about instead releasing and re-releasing the same movies over and over again you spend that effort on library titles that actually deserve at least ONE release, Warner. Like say, I don't know, "THE LORD OF THE RINGS"! "I Am Legend" and "300" are fine movies, but... come on, you have vaults full of classic films that might actually get consumers interested in Blu-ray Disc if you stopped wasting your time with this silliness.
I was one of the few people that went to the limited showings across the country of all 3 LOTR movies in a row the day before the 3rd movie released.
The first two movies were the Extended versions, and to my knowledge this was the only time those versions were ever in a can and shown on a screen.
Though they could release those extended versions IN THEATER and make tons of money from LOTR fans all over, they might actually make more "profit" from a blu-ray release than to make another 3 thousand reels to send out to theaters.
Honestly though, after I got ahold of 6 of those tickets at the 31 dollar face value and couldn't find 2 people to go with me, I easily sold those 2 extra tickets for 200 dollars and they were going on Ebay for 300+ right after the ticket sales which were months before the showing.
These studios could re-release so many great films in theaters, just have the cost to put on reel again and PR a bit and they could make who knows how much.
And who in the Warner marketing department gave this the green light over MANY other more deserving projects?
Does this have the version of the movie that actually has decent CGI and a good ending? I want to see that version.
Agreed. This movie blows no matter what format its on. I downloaded it in HD and stopped watching 2/3rds of the way thru as I was falling asleep. Plus no one's shelling out the $$$ for Blu Ray discs anyway, and especially not for crappy titles.
You know Blu Ray has gone mainstream when really crappy movies start getting the Platinum / Limited / Collector's / Director's Edition treatments.
It's a sad but depressing fact that the more awful and mainstream a movie is, the more likely it is to be lavished with a special edition to persuade people to buy it.
True. Popular movies, even if crappy, have 10 releases and rereleases.
soooo... this one has a good ending to it??
I already have a digital copy since I bought the HDDVD version that is a dual format disc. Pop it in the computer and pow its on my zune.
I like digital copy but since they are always protected copies I cant use them on my player.
As for buying this agin If I feel the need for another Will Smith movie on hd I will buy Hancock.
I wanna know who setup that picture? You gotta be kidding me. I could be totally wrong (it's happened before) but it looks to me like some poor soul clean his shower, laid down some satin looking sheet and then spread out the contents of this set. If I'm wrong, great!. If I'm right..Lord help us!!
o rly? I Am Legend?
they could have seriously picked a better movie than this, since i don't want to start a war on movie taste between people i will stop now.
i'll start one...THIS MOVIE SUCKS!!!! Richard Matheson should have never let such a great book become this...
I thought one point to Blu-ray (and HD-DVD) discs was so you could have one disc that had the movie and ALL the extra features on it. What's going on? Has Blu-ray failed to live up to it's promises?
Oh, and I still have no intentions to see this movie.
