D'oh! You're right. Sony re-organized their LCD lineup on the webpage. I swear the 40" models used to be included in that list (it would be 40"-70"). Now it says 42" when they don't make a 42" model.

I've love to have a 52-56" LED-backlit LCD. But not for this money. Yow. I'm sure it's a great display, but it looks like I'll just have to wait for next year, or maybe the year after that.

I really really want to buy the 55" XBR8... my flagship 40" XBR Bravia is doing just fine but it's size seems a little small compared to all of the newer larger models. I would still put it up against ANY new model though since it's picture is far superior to most other lcd sets that are out now. I just have to convince my girlfriend that i NEED to spend $7000 and taxes on a new set. It's a good thing though that i'm good friends with a manager at a local audio/video shop since the idea of getting it at cost is a real plus!

hey brad, where do u live? anywhere near NY? mind introducing me to your friend? I'm so in for an xbr8, but 7grand its not gonna happen, my 5 year old 45" aquos still looks great (well, HD signals anyway), lemme know!
