I never understood this, you spend $2,000 to $7,000 on a television, and then go el cheap-o on the stand? That's like buying a Lamborghini, and then getting auto coverage from Frank's Steamed Clams and Auto Insurance. The problem I have had is that most retailers don't realize the home theater community. Look at the media center stands available. Some look really nice, but aren't usable because they aren't deep enough for a receiver, and offer no place to put a center channel speaker.
It's like getting that Pioneer Elite and not getting the $100 power cord. Oh, wait.... some things are just low tech no matter what you do. Stands may be one of these. You can make an unsafe high-price stand, too....
Frank has excellent steamed clams though, his marketing savvy and above average fast food preparation skills are a strong record on which to build a successful insurance company. And, his shop's been around 30 years, and the federal reserve has never once indicated that it might have to bail him out.

i only use TV stands made of marble crafted by italian orphans
I did that I bought a $2500 TV but a cheap glass stand. Now I regret it I ran out of space to hold my equipment and in the end it was bad choice
