Cablevision adding five more ho hum HD channels
Look, we fully get that any HD is better than no HD, but when a carrier can't find the time to add USA HD, SciFi HD and HBO HD, we begin to wonder who's setting the priorities. It's being bruited that five new high-def networks will be landing on Cablevision's systems on or around October 14th: VH1 HD, Palladia, Fuse HD, CMT HD and NHL HD. Not the most riveting list of newcomers we've ever seen, but hey, beggars can't be choosers.[Thanks, Jon]

Cablevision strives for quantity over quality. I've seen YouTube videos with less compression artifacts.
I used to have Cablevision, but happily switched to Verizon FIOS when they suddenly hit me with a much higher bill one month (an increase from about $120/month up to $180/month - apparently because my promotional year was over). I remember when I called them to cancel, they offered me another "deal" that would keep my bill the same, but I had already ordered FIOS and was really starting to look forward to it. I switched to Verizon and have paid around $120 ever since.
Having been a Cablevision customer, I can't say I ever had any artifacts while watching HD, but I really don't know how it is now.
I was just telling my roommate the other day that I would no longer need to watch standard definition channels any more if Verizon just added the following to their HD lineup (in order of preference): Spike, Comedy Central, G4, MTV (1 and 2), BET, and VH1. I don't even know if there are HD versions of these channels available, but of the channels I watch at least occasionally, these are the only ones that Verizon still doesn't have an HD version of.
Out of these six, it's nice to know at least one of them is available somewhere. It gives me hope that Verizon will add it some day.

Cablevision has HBO HD... at least in Long Island, NY.
I concur with the USA HD and SCI FI HD request... they could keep VH1 HD (cause I don;t need to see Flavor Flave in HD) and PALLADIA.
Cablevision does carry HBO HD, but what they are referring to is the HBO HD suite which consists of about 9 other HBO HD options.
Any word if these channels are going to be SDV or not? And where the !@#$%^ is the SDV tuning adapter nfor us Tivo folks??
They are adding MTV-HD not Palladia.
Cablevision doesn't even try anymore. There are tons of Channels on DirecTV that I think Cablevision should look into adding to the lineup. The iO gold lineup should be called the iO crap lineup! Also, why is it that Cablevision HD is barely as good as the Standard Satellite signal from DirecTV? I'd go back to DirecTv if it wasn't for that big tree in front of my house!
