iN DEMAND confirms MOJO HD cancellation
The writing was all over the wall, but now it's in stone. Parent company iNDEMAND has confirmed in a statement that MOJO HD is fixing to cease as we know it. More specifically, it states that MOJO HD was "originally conceived as a way to satisfy consumers' thirst for pure true high-definition programming," and while the channel "accomplished this goal, there is a wealth of HD programming now available and thus we have chosen to discontinue the service." To be frank, we're not exactly sure what to make of this comment. Is it saying it'd rather bow out than engineer new, unique programming to boost ratings now that HD content is more accessible? Or is this just some canned response used to appease the masses? Whatever the case, we'll miss you MOJO, and here's hoping Zane Lamprey and Three Sheets finds another television home (and fast).
Update: iNDEMAND pinged us with an official response (and to reaffirm the dissolution of MOJO HD), most of which you already read above. For the full thing, head on past the break.
Update 2: We've heard back from iN DEMAND about the future of MOJO's programming. Check it out here.
"The MOJO HD channel was originally conceived as a way to satisfy consumers' thirst for pure true high definition programming. While MOJO HD accomplished this goal, there is a wealth of HD programming now available and thus we have chosen to discontinue the service."
The shutdown is scheduled for Dec. 1, but the exact date will be determined by individual systems.

I'm loosing more HD channels than I'm gaining them in Houston. WTF?
We're getting closer to an idyllic, VOOM-free world.
WTF is your problem with VOOM? Aside of repeating a lot of programming - which I like so I can catch anything later - at least they DO maintain some quality (despite the retarded Dish HD-Lite policies)... stil lFAR BETTER than ridiculously SHITTY QUALITY TIME WARNER and its upconverted SD crap, titled as "HD" broaf...
Although I like image quality, content comes first.
I don't like any channel that only produces a tiny amount of content each week and repeats it over and over, regardless of image quality. Because these channels take up bandwidth that could be used for more actual content and also some of my satellite fees are going to pay for these channels that provide almost no value.
I would love to see A La Carte and/or VOD, so these channels like MOJO can try to prove their worth in a properly functioning free market. And with VOD, they would only need to use up as much bandwidth as they have content, instead of wasting it on repeats.
Three sheets to Food Network would make sense, airing right after Alton Brown!
This is rediculous! I watch MOJO HD more than all other channels combined!
The programming is by far the most original and consistently entertaining of other options out there... Screw the dumb shit[s] that made this stupid choice, I can't wait for another channel of the same crap.
I feel like we'll be homogenized across the board in no time at all...
This may be a death knell for my cable too.
Seriously, Three Sheets is witty, smart, informative and overall one of the best put-together travel/food shows out there. I'd really like to see if come to the Travel Channel.
It'd be right at home with Anthony Bourdaine and the fat bald guy whose name I can never remember.
Save Three Sheets!
I would love to see the quality shows on these marginal, repeat-plagues channels to move to other channels too. And with the system of how many shows are independently produced nowadays means this can happen.
What I don't want is for my monthly bill to go to channels that aren't even trying to produce a full week's worth of content. If the good content from these channels all migrates to fewer channels, then I would be glad to have (and pay for) these fewer, content-rich channels.
This is sad. Mojo HD was WAY better than HDNet in terms of content and production quality, yet Mojo HD stays??
Someone needs to start a petition to get Pressure Cook to Food Network and London Live to Palladia stat.
Can't say I'm sorry about MOJO going away. My current cable provider does not carry it, but when I was still with TWC in Albany, NY, I did get it. Since it had been converted from InHD/InHD2, all the interesting content had gone away - most of the movies, concerts, IMAX content, etc. that'd actually seemed worthwhile to me was gone. I figured it was just a matter of time.
Since I switched to FIOS, the only thing I missed from Comcast was Three Sheets on MOJO. Most of MOJO's content was lame, especially after they dropped all the INHD1/2 content.
Three Sheets was pretty darned popular, though, and will probably find a home on some place like the Travel Channel or Spike. It's a little too racy for Food Network (and this show ON Food Network feels like weak sauce comparatively).
I think Three Sheets fits better on the Travel Channel.
And there goes the last thing that I held onto cable for. Hopefully Three Sheets moves so I can still catch it, and now I can get FIOS with zero regret!
How about E!? They had Tara Reid's "Taradise" which was essentially a travel/drinking show.
This is very sad. I watched Mojo all the time and it was my favorite channel. Three sheets, Bobby G, Wall Street Warriors etc etc. are all really good shows and will be missed.
I think this was a terrible decision.
Many may disagree with me, but the best original series they ever did was King of Miami, which they only did a season of and then discontinued for reasons beyond me. But, in my opinion, it was one of the most hilliarious shows on television on par with Sasha Chohen's Ali G Show (which aired on HBO in the US and the BBC over in the UK). With I Bet You and King of Miami and had they pressed on with other ultra original programming of the like, I think Mojo would have been a lot more successful!
Really sad to see MOJO go. A great HI-DEF network with breathtaking scenery and great content. Very entertaining with "Three Sheets" Pressure Cook" I bet you" and "Getting Abroad". I'm sure alot of people like me will miss Zane Lamprey.Hope to see you on another network. Mabuhai !!
I'm in shock, I never heard this coming. MOJO was the best channel on TV. Three Sheets is by far the most fun you can have watching TV I really will miss it. I could watch those shows with my favorite cocktail over and over. The rest of the shows where excellent also I'll miss them all.( I Bet you ) that was original. ( Pressure Cooker ) a lot of fun. And most of the rest. I allready was missing The King of Miami one of the most underrated shows there were. Lets all raise a drink to all the great moments we had watching Zane and the gang...you'll be missed
This is the worst thing ever!!! This was one of the few HD stations worth the visit. This is truly a sad day in T.V. history. I loved watching MOJO and I am extremely sad to see it go. Most of the shows should get optioned and picked up somewhere else. But MOJO brought it all together in one spot. Shame on iNDemand for canceling the whole Channel. What a bone head move. A tiny ounce of promotion and this channel would have blown Spike right out of the water and probably been a top ten cable channel. R.I.P. MOJO as you WILL BE MISSED!!!!!!!!!
MOJO sucked. Even the people who loved it can only name like 3 shows that they're gonna miss. And one of them was Wall Street Warriors, a reality show with the most boring characters possible. Gee I hope they make a reality show about accountants! Btw you are all wrong about 3 Sheets, it belongs on Spike or FX. But for the record MOJO was much better than VOOM. I'm an AVID editor and I've worked for VOOM on that collectibles show (I can't even remember the name). They are a bunch of cheap skates who cut corners and turn out lazy productions. I don't Mention them on my resume.
Thanks yosho for your illuminating self serving diatribe bullshit. MOJO was one of my favorite channels. I was very disappointed to see it just disappear......like 98% of the posts here. Why even post if you think it sucks. You must be one of those people that love to hear themselves talk and since you have no one else to talk to you make posts bantering your negativity. Thanks for helping the rest of us out that really enjoyed MOJO. You are so superior to the 98% of the rest of us.Get a life editor!
Goober:
GOOD GRIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone here needs to get over themselves and get a life it is YOU, my friend. Relax, get a grip, it was just a cable network, and a boring one at that. The fact that you can't even discuss this without getting hysterical and personal is pathetic, quite frankly. Listen to you, "Why even post if you don't agree with me?" PATHETIC. It's not my fault that your little failure of a cable network was too boring to draw an audience. If you love boring programming starring hacks that don't seem to know too much about what they're doing, (with 1 or 2 exceptions) then go out and start your own lame network. But leave me out of it. I don't make any personal claims about anyone who watched or enjoyed MOJO, and if you had any taste or a decent thought to be shared, you wouldn't need to either.
After Hours with Daniel
London Live
Pressure Cook
Dr Danger
Three Sheets
King of Miami (sorry, it *was* good)
that's 6, that's more than most other stations.
Well, touche.
I suppose 3 was kind of low-balling it. Look, I guess it's kind of a matter of taste, but I have to say that Pressure Cook, Dr Danger, King of Miami, as well as that show "I Bet You" are specifically what I'm talking about when I talk about hosts who are hacks. I mean all four of these shows featured people who are not only not professional presenters, but they do it unprofessionally. They were all first timers (or appeared to be), stiff, not engaging, and uninterested. Like it or not, if you're going to keep a network like MOJO afloat in today's modern media you need stars... not necessarily people who have been stars already but people who 'have it'. None of these people 'had it'. MOJO had one, Zane, and that's it. That Bobby G guy had potential. But that's not enough.
Too Bad. MOJO was a great station. Loved Wall Street Warriors, Bobby G Adventure Capitalist, Three Sheets and Ralph Pagano's Pressure Cook.
Great station for the boyz.
I am so utterly disappointed, am finding it hard to type through the tears.
What in the world is behind the decision to pull MoJoHD???
You are telling me the most beautiful, original, clever, different in a GOOD way channel is now "done"...?!?!?!
At least tell us where we can find it again. I will give you HBO/Shtm/strz package -- just please give me back my MoJo. Honestly, incomparable programming - only to be replaced with bass fishing? I will never ever watch my plasma with the same enthusiasm. I mean it.
Now that we are addicted, here is the dealer menatlity -- making it a premium channel.
Fine, just when AND WHERE?!?!?!?!?
Distraught and pissed,
gn
This is bullshit. The only reason I switched from DirecTV to cable was for MOJO. What in the hell am I going to do with TNTHD?
I am sad and mad! What the hell are my wife and I going to do on new years eve? We were all excited to watch the the three sheets marathon with friends! We did last year and It was a big hit! The shows I miss are Uncorked, Beernutz, King of Miami,Presure cook, I bet you, After hours, London live and especially THREE SHEETS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get it back together.
I also am very sad to see the whole networj MoJo go just like that. I think King of Miami was one of the funniest shows on tv. Pressure cook with Ralph Pagan was great and will be missed. I could go on , Gimpbully mentioned the rest. We all cant be wrong, maybe the network is going to sell the writes to these shows to another networks. I dont know, I am very hurt to see them go. I wish them all the best and hope to see them again .
HDNEWS channel 712 also went under. What is going on??
