I hear ya. I moved a mile away from my old apartment where I had Uverse to a new apartment (which just so happens to be not 200ft away from an AT&T service hub) and I cannot get any AT&T service because Verizon owns the phone lines. However, I could have paid a $365 fee to remove some limitation from the line and use their services.
