At
this point, it's really tough to imagine NFL in SD. That being said, some of the material that airs on
NFL Network is still in standard-def, but the network is making strides to pretty it up a bit before it goes all-HD next year. Starting today, the channel has launched its new HD information screen on NFL Network HD, which "appears on [the] network when there is standard-definition programming on the air and displays all the latest NFL scores, standings and injury reports." Also of note, a spokesman for the channel pinged us to say that NFL Network is "currently in the process of migrating to 100% HD programming by sometime in 2009," which ought to send chills down the spines of all you NFL junkies looking for even more of your favorite sport in high-def. Now, if we could all just stop talking about that Brett fellow, everything would be cool.
Sorry NFL network, but call me when you get some real HD equipment, and not just some dress up so that you can delay the deployment of a real HD network.
Is it me or does the NFL network do a piss poor job of even upscaling the "HD" version of it's network? I can't even look at it TBH it's as bad or worse than G4TV, and that's bad.
They plan on calling you, "by sometime in 2009"
Read the article dude. Anything available in HD is handed to you in NATIVE HD. Anything in SD is not upscaled, it is "slid to the side" and the graphics package fills the HD screen.
The SD becomes the window on the left side of the screen... NOT upscaled.
@ Reality: I understand what you're saying, but my point is that we have had the NFLnetwork for some time now, and if you're going to run a channel and offer it in "HD", at least produce your content in HD. I understand that CNBC does this too, but at least they offered it that way from the beginning. If a local news network can produce HD content, surely the NFL network can too. I guess they will call me in 09' sometime?
I'll make sure to give you a call next year! ;)
Plus, I think they have made some tweeks recently. The colors are better and the resolution looks better. I watch it on direct tv and I have def. noticed.
Evenin' Boys!
Im from Bama and it shore looks good on my 13" sanyo tv. I dont know what yer watching but if I sit real real close, its as dang good as those skinny tvs at the walmart.
