Anything you can do, I can do better. That's the mantra being carefully executed by Verizon as it launches its own Fantasy Football outlet just months after
AT&T did the same. Oddly enough, the decision was made to go live with this well after the 2008 NFL season began, but we know hardcore football fanatics won't be complaining. Available now for free to select FiOS TV users, an ESPN Fantasy Football widget provides "instant on-screen access to personalized points and football statistics, including rosters, box scores, scoring leaders and player information." Check it out now if you're in California, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, Washington, or the Harrisburg / southeastern Pennsylvania areas; otherwise, you'll just have to be patient for an undisclosed amount of time.
Now just bring me some fantasy bball and I'll be happy
I am in SE PA, and this became available probably 4 weeks ago. Since I play ESPN fantasy football, I found it useful not having to leave my downstairs TV to go upstairs to a computer. The interface gives pretty thorough stats.
Drawbacks: User Interface is a little slow (Although, I've noticed that alot of FOIS VOD menus and widgets are pretty slow when you're moving between choices in the menus).
Another drawback is that when you try to access it, you cannot keep watching your games on your. Either you watch TV or you are accessing your Fantasy Football account. An improve would be if you could pull up the stats on the TV screen while you're watching the games.
Yup, I'm just north of Seattle, and I've had this feature since the season began.
