AT&T eying December launch of U-verse in Cary, NC?
It's impossible to say just how legitimate all of this is right now, but the writing has been on the wall for months. We already knew that AT&T was laying down hundreds of millions of dollars for fiber improvements in the Carolinas, and we've already seen dodgy job ads and U-verse cabinets in the central region of NC. Now, we're really beginning to feel it. A number of locals in the Triangle have spotted AT&T trucks casually passing through, and upon asking, were told that U-verse services were planned for certain areas as early as December. More specifically, we're hearing that Cary, NC could be serviced first, though there's no word on when the Triangle / Triad at large would have the option to switch. And maybe it's completely coincidental, but TWC managed to go a lifetime without adding a substantial amount of high-def stations in these very areas -- now that competition's (possibly) rolling into town, we're finally seeing some effort put forth.

Still means nothing to me--I'm in Atlanta. The idea of launching and reality are far from one another.
Dear God in Heaven let this be true!
I live in Raleigh and if it comes to Cary then it won't be long before Raleigh is included right? Too bad Verizon isn't coming out here either. I really would like to compare between the 2 of them.
But this is very exciting news!
I am in Cary. Bring it on AT&T. I have DirecTV, so I will not get the TV, but will get the high-speed internet!!!
I'm in Cary, and I saw an AT&T truck parked in my cul de sac for hours two nights ago. The interior of the truck was lit up by LCD screens, but he could have been playing solitaire for all I know. I should have talked to the guy. I've got AT&T DSL now, and I would love to give U-verse a try, especially for the HD TV, but wouldn't you know that I got tired of waiting two weeks ago and called DirecTV to upgrade me to HD. Installation is scheduled in a week.
I have a friend that is Training right now to install U-Verse & other AT&T services in the Raleigh area.......he has been training going various places from Miami to Charlotte and others and he actually starts in Raleigh the First week of December......so I'd believe it.......
I commented in the last U-Verse post about the Cary area and all I can say is I hope the internet gods bring this to my neighborhood. AT&T spent what seemed like two months on property just outside the neighborhood at a collection of their boxes (looks like about 4-5 of them grouped together). They also dug up about 8-10 yards in the middle parts of the neighborhood but I didn't notice them going to the edge of the hood. Maybe these were repeaters or amps that were buried they had to get to or maybe they just had to beef up or replace some bundles that were down in the ground?
Either way, this can't come soon enough. I've been a TWC subscriber for 5+ years and never had much complaints about the TV and Internet service, only the price creep. But since we upgraded to HD service a couple months ago, we've been thoroughly disgusted. I would have already switched to satellite if it weren't for the U-Verse rumors. So, I'm holding out a little longer.
I'm in Raleigh, and online U-verse qualification just said I'm eligible. Glenwood/Lynn Rd. area.
