DLO starts shipping HomeDock HD upscaling iPod dock
The port-filled HomeDock HD Pro, which was unveiled back at CEDIA this year, has finally made its way off the production line and into corrugated packaging. For those who can't surmise from the image above, this upscaling iPod dock takes your stored media and pumps it out via HDMI in gorgeous 720p / 1080i, and the RS-232 control port should make it feel right at home in your current setup. $399 makes it yours.
Update: DLO pinged us to say it was the Homedock HD (not Pro) that started shipping. The Pro is due in "early 2009."

For $400, this thing should really be upscaling to 1080p.
So what does a 320x240 video look like when its unscaled to 720p?
For almost half the price, I could get an AppleTV that does all this can do and more and you don't even need an iPod or can use the iPod for just personal entertainment like it was intended to. I can understand a product in this category that costs under $100, but $400. Give me a break!
this is the stupidest thing i've ever laid my eyes on... for $400 you could get an apple tv and a decent surround sound system, have access to actual HD content, instead of scaling your 2.5" screen to 67" (can you imagine???). If anyone actually buys this thing, the seller should throw this at their customer's head, said customer would clearly be too stupid to deserve the right to live or procreate. Maybe if it had electrolytes i'd buy. Homedock HD Pro, it's what plant's crave! Well, they could eat least try to sell it under the monster brand, then maybe they'd have a chance at reeling in a few suckers....
Not an Idiocracy reference or anything....
For this you can buy a Popcorn Hour with more capacity.
Or even use the Popcorn Hour to play the content of the iPod through USB. eheheheh
Ummmmm, where is the RS232 port? I see an IR port, but RS232?
