I spoke with a Verizon manager a few days ago and learned that FIOS TV will not be in my community until the end of January or February. Maybe this invalidates my question but I own a Samsung HDTV that has a cable input, antenna input, and 3 HDMI inputs. Right now I get my feed from Comcast since they have a lock on providing service to my community.
Question: When I change over to FIOS in 2009 will I still need to have a set top box? One thought is "No" since they will be feeding a digital signal and my HDTV is digital. The other thought is "Yes" since my HDTV's digital tuner only goes up to 133 channels.
But what about all those 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, etc. channels? Will they arrive in their assigned space or will Verizon move them to something like 412, 513, 614, etc. so the box will still be needed to do a conversion?
