LG's BD300 next in line for HD Netflix streaming
Remember when we heard that Microsoft's Xbox 360 was just one of many boxes that would support HD Netflix streaming over the next few months? Yeah, well we get the impression that the first week in December will be the go-live date for a smattering of new units. Just hours after hearing that Samsung's BD-P2500 and BD-P2550 Blu-ray decks would be receiving a free update to enable high-def Netflix support, along comes a strikingly similar release from LG tipping us off on a strikingly similar update for its BD300. Said BD player, which has supported Watch Instantly from day one, will also support HD streaming after a gratis firmware upgrade in "early December." Mmm, we definitely like where this is headed.

Make this work for the BH200 also and I'll be a happy camper.
DITTO!
Darren (or anyone):
Is this streaming only via ethernet, or does it work with a wireless network?
Thanks!
While I doubt the player has built-in wifi, hooking up a wireless router will work just fine.
I think I read the SD stream is only @1-3Mbps, while the HD tops off @4-5Mbps.
has anyone with half a brain actually browsed the titles netflix offers on their streaming service? an overwhelming majority of pure garbage. movies you've never even heard of.
the only bright spot, if you can even call it that, are recent tv shows making their rounds on the pop-culture circuit like 'Office', 'Heroes' and '30 Rock'. take a look at their top 50 list if you want proof.
love the service but i've grown sick and tired of reading/hearing all the undeserved praise this particular aspect is getting. it's highly overrated.
its praise is very deserved.... as long as you dont expect it to replace netflix in terms of new movies yet. it will get there but it wont be at the "free" price it is at now.
i have 160 movies/tv shows in my queue and that is with the "pure garbage" as you call it.
but it has an outstanding collection of smaller studio flicks (magnolia library for instance) and anything over a yr old in the starz library.
i have a tivo hd and a ps3. come on guys, throw me a bone here. i'll get a netflix sub when either one of them add netflix hd support. i know tivo is getting netflix streaming in december, but so far it won't be hd. why do that if you're not going to allow hd streaming on a device made specifically for high definition?
I've had the BD 300 for about a week now, and while I love the potential of this unit, the selections available from Netflix streaming are limited to older releases and garbage D-List movies I've never heard of. Hopefully Netflix can clear this up sooner than later.
Content aside, my internet connection is 4 stars and the quality is pretty darn good. LG claims this box is rigged for HD streaming content if and when it appears.
